We need a minimum of 24 hours in order to contact other people for changes or cancellations of appointments. In addition, it becomes too difficult to run a business without this basic notification.
Our cancellation policy is that if less than 24 hours notice is given:
* on the first occurrence 50% of the appointment fee is payable
* on subsequent occurrences up to 100% of the appointment fee is payable
In addition, as we do not make appointments on the weekend, changes to Monday appointments must be made by the same time on Friday.
We understand if there are legitimate reasons for not being able to notify us, so please communicate these if relevant.
We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are chiropractors registered?
All chiropractors must be registered with the Chiropractic Board of Australia and meet the Board’s ongoing registration standards, in order to practise in Australia.
What education and training do chiropractors undertake?
In Australia, chiropractors are highly trained healthcare professionals. Chiropractic education involves undergraduate and/or masters-level University training over five years. All accredited chiropractic programs in Australia include units in Basic and Clinical Sciences. Apart from Basic Science subjects such as Biology, Biochemistry & Physics, further study in Physiology, Anatomy (Functional, Visceral & NeuroAnatomy), Pathology, Differential Diagnosis as well as Neurology, Orthopaedics, Radiology and speciality Chiropractic Subjects are all essential study for Chiropractors. Also included are units in Spinal Skills, Rehabilitation, Nutrition, Paediatrics, Geriatrics, Public Health and Evidence-based Practice.
As with other primary healthcare professions, chiropractic pre-professional training requires a significant proportion of the curricula to be clinical subjects related to evaluating and caring for patients. As part of professional training, final-year students must also complete a minimum of a one-year supervised Clinical Internship.
In addition to these, most chiropractors engage in further Study and Education after they graduate in the areas which they are passionate. For myself, these areas are the Cranial Therapies as well as NeuroEmotional Technique (NET).
Can I claim on private health insurance or Medicare?
All major private health funds offer cover for chiropractic services – usually under their ‘extras’ table. However, annual limits do apply and the amount that you are reimbursed will vary. Check with your own fund to find out the exact details in your case.
If you are referred by your general practitioner under the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan then you are able to claim a portion of your fees from Medicare (up to a maximum of 5 visits per year). You will need to talk to your GP about the appropriate referral.
Do I need a referral from a GP to see a chiropractor?
Chiropractors are primary contact, primary healthcare practitioners – as such, no form of referral is required as a prerequisite to visit a chiropractor. However, you may be referred to a chiropractor by your GP and this referral may include an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan associated with a Medicare rebate.
Why is Cranial Healing/Balancing so important?
Cranial therapies such as Craniosacral Balancing (CSB) and NeuroCranial Restructuring (NCR) release tension in the Fluid-Membrane System inside the Skull and Spinal Column. This is called the Dural Membrane. This membrane attaches to the inside of the Skull, Spine and Sacrum, and as such, is fundamental to Spinal and neurological function in the body.
I have found that by working with this system I can achieve good results with the body which are both quicker and more long-lasting than when I used to work only with adjustments, massage and stretches. I have realised through my experience that by only working “from the outside-in” (ie. only the Spine and Muscles) without releasing tension in the Dural membrane inside the Skull and Spine I was “pushing water uphill”. Through working with the bones of the Skull I was able to restore a much more fundamental level of balance in the body much more easily since this Craniosacral System is at the Core or Foundation of Neurological Health.
